{Monday Motivation} Do Good All Day

We went to UP Diliman early this morning.  As always, we had so much fun eating breakfast, walking, running, and exploring the surroundings.  The sun was shining but the wind was so refreshing.

While we were walking towards our car, without warning, it started to rain really hard!  Don grabbed Julia, crossed the street and ran towards the Art Museum.  I struggled as I maneuvered the stroller... the sidewalk and the uneven pavement did not make it easy for me.

Luckily, there was a building right in front of us when it rained.  Julia was a little wet with sweat and rain.  So we hurriedly changed her clothes.  It was difficult because there was no table and the benches were wet.  The stroller, on the other hand, was drenched so Julia can't sit on it. Suddenly, the guard greeted us with a smile and handed over a chair to Don.  I was surprised because I did not even noticed that there was a guard because we were staying at the side of the building.  Obviously, his small gesture helped us a lot.  We couldn't stop thanking him.

In my opinion, gestures like that are rare these days.  Often times, I would catch myself wanting to help someone but will end up not doing so because I am scared that it might be a modus operandi. On the other hand, I would rather be indifferent than be accused of meddling or being part of a modus operandi. Whenever I help a stranger, I either get a bewildered look with an awkward smile and "thank you" or a suspicious look that says "who are you?  why are you helping me?"

It makes me wonder, should acts of kindness just be random?  I still believe that it is wise to be cautious when helping strangers but we can always do good things with the people we interact with everyday.  Our family, our relatives, our neighbors, the people we work with, the people who work for us or people who serve us in restaurants, gasoline stations, shopping malls, etc.

I will share with my very timely daily devotional reading for today.  This is the reason why we should be kind and do good everyday.
This is a trustworthy saying.  And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good.  These things are excellent and profitable for everyone. (Titus 3:8)
Do Good
What an awesome thing it is to be good to people.  The Bible says that God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with strength, ability and power; and that He went about doing good, for God was with Him (see Acts 10:38).  Jesus spent His days being good to people - all people.  He helped and encouraged people everywhere He went.
We are anointed to bless people as Jesus did.  God has given us the strength, ability and power to do awesome works in His name.  Do good all day - today.
