{Monday Motivation} Inspire Kindness

It's funny how people are nicer during the Christmas season.  Do you notice that?  People smile more often, people are more generous, more forgiving, more kind.  It is funny for me because I noticed that as soon as the season is over, we go back to the daily grind where smiling, generosity and forgiveness is an option.  It's like being nice happens only once year.

Wouldn't it be better if we have that "Christmas spirit" every day?  We don't need to donate a large sum of cash to a charity or give a house to a homeless family.  Being kind does not require money, really.  All it takes is a sincere and humble heart... doing things (small or big) that has a positive impact on others.

Honestly, I try to be kind because I HAVE TO.  I always believe that good things happen to good people. It's mechanical rather than spiritual and emotional.  But now, being kind has a whole new meaning for me.  It is all about doing things that pleases God ALL THE TIME (and it's not easy!).  When in a situation, especially a negative one, where I think about how to respond, I think about how God is kind, forgiving and loving to ME.  ME -- a person with faults, a person who sin everyday.  So who am I not to be kind to others.

As I said, it is not easy (hey I cursed on my way to work because a jeepney driver was just too... Okay, I'll stop now. It's just that sometimes I respond too quickly and skip the "thinking" part)!  But with God's grace and forgiveness, I know it is possible.

Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32)

Imagine how a simple act of kindness can inspire other people to do the same... How quickly it can create a positive impact on others.  Watch this video and find out.
