{Monday Motivation} Say and Do No Evil

I shared this story on my Facebook wall last week:

My dad, Don and I were laughing when this happened.  Julia is almost two.  Half of what she says we do not understand but here are some of the words/sentences that she says:

Hi / Hello/ Bye
Thank you, Mommy/Daddy
I'm sorry, Mommy/Daddy
There you go!
Got you!
Who's that?
What's that?
Okay, Mommy/Daddy
Wa bu (love you)

She knows other words though she doesn't repeat (yet!) every word we say.  There are times when we hear her say words we did not even teach.  Though Don and I laugh, we realize how important it is to be conscious about what we say to each other and to other people.  I must admit, I make that extra effort to edit and screen the words I will use or the actions I am about to make.   But sometimes, I say words and do things I shouldn't.  I realized that being kind, respectful and living a life that is pleasing to God SHOULD BE A LIFESTYLE.

I struggle every day to be the person God wants me to be.  Every time I am tempted to displease Him -- say bad words, hold grudge on someone, or just be indifferent -- I remind myself that I do good things not for other people but for my God.  Ang hirap, promise!  But aside from not wanting to hurt God, this quote summarizes exactly why I want to be a better person.
May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer. (Psalm 19:14)

Have a great week ahead, moms!
